The National Unity Platform (NUP) flagbearers in Mubende District have resolved to conduct joint campaign activities as they seek to “paint Mubende red” ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The campaign launch took place today in Kiyuni Sub-county, led by NUP chairperson and LC5 flagbearer Pafulafito Kyeyune, alongside Woman MP flagbearer Hope Felister Nanyanzi and several councillor candidates.
“Today we are kickstarting our journey to reclaim the victory that was stolen from us in 2021,” Kyeyune said, highlighting the party’s determination to secure all key positions in the district.
Kyeyune explained that the joint campaigns are a strategic move to maximize outreach within the limited time remaining before the elections.
“We have decided to conduct joint campaigns because we share a common goal—to paint Mubende red and to mobilise votes for our presidential flag bearer,” he said.
“This strategy will allow all our candidates to deliver their messages at once, reaching every corner of the district efficiently.”
Ms Nanyanzi expressed confidence that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will face its toughest challenge yet in Mubende.
“In 2021, our president received over forty thousand votes in Mubende. This time, we are confident that the number will triple in 2026,” Nanyanzi said.
Currently, Mubende District is represented by NRM members at both parliamentary and LC5 levels, making NUP’s coordinated approach a direct challenge to the ruling party’s dominance.
